Roemio is a location-based game where you conquer real-world places. We care about your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your rights.

Data we collect

• Location (GPS): to show nearby places, let you conquer, and explore the map. Location is processed only while you use the app and with your permission. The map area you view is also sent to our map and place-data providers (see below).
• Motion & fitness (steps): with your permission we read your step count from your device (Apple Motion & Fitness) so real walking earns in-game coins and to help confirm real movement. Only step-based totals are sent to our servers; raw motion data stays on your device.
• Photos you take: photos you capture live when conquering a place are uploaded to our servers (Firebase Storage) and may be visible to other players in your collection, the live feed, and rankings. No photos are uploaded from your gallery.
• Account info: Sign in with Apple or an anonymous identity (user ID), the username you choose, and (if you subscribe or buy coins) your purchase and subscription status.
• Game data: your conquests, coin/wallet balance, team, friends, rankings, progress, place listings and trades, and the messages you send (team chat and direct messages, which are visible to their recipients).
• Notification token: your device's notification token (FCM) so we can send you notifications.
• Approximate city: used for the city leaderboard and friend suggestions.
• Usage & crash diagnostics (optional): anonymous usage events (which screens and features are used, timing) and crash reports so we can fix problems. They contain no precise coordinates, photos or message contents. You can turn them off in Settings → Analytics.

How we use data

• To run the game (conquering, map, teams, friends, rankings).
• To send notifications (friend activity, streak reminders, etc.).
• To prevent fraud and abuse, and to enforce our rules.

We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising.

Third-party services

• Firebase / Google: authentication, database (Firestore), file storage (Storage), server functions, push messaging, App Check (device integrity), and — only while you keep them on — Analytics and Crashlytics. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
• Apple: Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases and subscriptions, App Attest (device integrity) and Motion & Fitness (step counting on your device).
• RevenueCat: processes your purchase and subscription status so we can unlock what you bought. It receives your app user ID and Apple transaction data; we never see your payment details.
• Geoapify: place data provider (receives the map area you are exploring).
• MapTiler: map tiles for the game map (receives your IP address and the map area you view, like any online map).
• Wikidata: our servers look up public facts about famous places; no personal data is sent.

Analytics & crash reports — your choice

Roemio uses Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand which features are used and to fix crashes. They do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and are not used to track you across other apps or websites. You can turn both off at any time in Settings → Analytics; the game works exactly the same.

Location & photos

You can turn off location access anytime in your device Settings (some features may not work). Photos are captured live in-app only, associated with the place you conquer, and may be visible to other players.

Retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. Some records expire automatically after a period (activity feeds, chat messages, temporary request records). You can delete your account in-app (Settings → Delete Account); this permanently removes your account, photos, messages and game data from our servers. Purchase records held by Apple and RevenueCat follow their own retention rules.

Your rights (KVKK / GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, and object to the processing of your data. To make a request, email support@roemio.app.

Children's privacy

Roemio is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. For significant changes we will notify you in-app or on this page. The effective date is shown at the top.
